Tryggvi Fuchs and the Giens

Tryggvi Fuchs is the most famous hero of the First Gien Invasion. He is widely credited as being instrumental in driving the Giens out of Marrishland, and some Mar tales even give him all the credit for this impressive feat. Tryggvi is a dark character — one of the heroes in the Mar tradition associated with the constellation of the Mass, whose stars are those of heroes who consorted with the inhuman enemies of all Mar in order to achieve their goals. Tryggvi is certainly not a nice guy.

Posted by Matt on 2/6/06: Tryggvi was another guy like Weard Darflaem whom Eric and I have known we'd write about. Of course, my timing is off, but it's more interesting this way, because you don't know what really happened. Eric hasn't written that part of the history yet. He's a vicious, dark, evil guy, and was difficult for me to write. Harry is a blessing, honestly, because while he's evil, too, he's also practical.

Posted by Eric on 2/11/2006: Tryggvi was a folk hero in the first history of Marrishland I wrote. In that version, he was a patriot, not a cold-blooded killer who would sell humans like cattle to inhuman monsters. Okay, so he was ruthless in that version, too. Matt doesn't like writing these dark heroes as much, but I'm always glad when he does it anyway. The tribute was a creepy addition to the Tryggvi legend, but it fits his character far too well.
