Duxy Wars (ca. 5350 - 5400 I.D.)
The Duxy Wars were a series of intense conflicts between the duxies of Marrishland. While it began as a war between Piljerka and Pidel, by its end, every duxy was involved in the conflict. While some now characterize it as a period of civil war, it is important to realize the Mar of the time would not have considered it one. As the Mardux weakened and the duxes grew in strength, the Mar became increasingly regional. A man living in the Duxy of Skrem would not have regarded himself as a subject of the Mardux, for example. For all intents and purposes, each duxy was its own nation, and Mar of one duxy felt little kinship with Mar of another.
