We're authors

In Marrishland, magic is the source of all power, so it isn't surprising that it plays such an important role in its history and culture. It also lies at the heart of the conflict in the book. To find out how, read the book.

Historical Scholarship

Marrishland has an extremely long intellectual tradition, especially among the wizards. Mar history, however, is rife with tragedies that have resulted in the loss of many irreplaceable historical documents. Between cataclysmic upheavals like the Gien Invasion and the eventual fall of the Gien Empire, unfortunate accidents like the fire that destroyed the decay of the Kalkoraen library in Domus Palus, and the lack of a Mar writing system for most of its history, much of the recorded history of Marrishland is derived from sources of questionable authenticity. Mar villains and heroes, like Flecterran heroes, are often inflated by classical historians into epic characters. Moreover, Mar histories often claim improbable events, incredible coincidences, and overt instances of divine intervention as historical facts. Worst of all, sometimes these events, coincidences, and interventions are the only ones that make sense within the context of the preceding and following events - much to the annoyance of rationalist historians.
